QuickBooks Training Class
A QuickBooks Training Class will be offered by McGowen Hurst Clark & Smith, P.C.,on Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Small Business Technology Services, 1906 Ingersoll Avenue, Suite 12, Des Moines. This class is geared for beginner to intermediate users. It is a hands-on class with each participant having access to a computer. The cost is $100, with all materials provided. MHC&S Volunteers at the Latino Heritage Festival
Many employees of McGowen, Hurst, Clark & Smith P.C., volunteered their time the weekend of Sept. 19-20 assisting at the Latino Heritage Festival. The festival and was held at the Blank Park Zoo, and is the largest ethnic event in Iowa, with over 20,000 people attending. The festival was organized by our client, Latino Resources, Inc., a non-profit entity whose purpose is to develop and oversee the Latino Heritage Festival. A special thank you to all the employees who volunteered and especially to Tara Raymond, MHC&S firm member and board member of the Latino Resources, Inc., who was in charge of many aspects of the festival including securing all volunteers.
On the Home Front
Mike McNichols, Audit partner, secured an at-large seat on the Bondurant-Farrar school board. Elections were held early this month. Congratulations, Mike.
After working nine years in our Winterset office, Betty Kirkland retired last month. Betty also announced her recent engagement, and plans to be married soon. Good luck and congratulations, Betty.
