McGowen, Hurst, Clark & Smith, P.C.
CPA Firm Sees "Red," But This Time It's A Positive
"Saving 65 Lives In Honor Of 65th Anniversary"

WEST DES MOINES  -   McGowen, Hurst, Clark & Smith, P.C., a certified public accounting and business advisory firm, proudly celebrates its 65th Anniversary this year.   In honor of the firm’s milestone anniversary, the employees decided to conduct multiple blood drives throughout the year, until they donated enough blood to save the lives of 65 people.  That goal was met and exceeded earlier this month.

Bob McGowen, Managing Partner said, “We wanted to do something special to mark our 65th anniversary this year.  We knew holding blood drives on a regular basis throughout the year would have a positive and direct impact in the community in which we live and work.  It was a project our team members embraced.”

MHC&S partnered with their client, LifeServe Blood Center and scheduled the LifeServe blood mobile to make several stops at the MHC&S parking lot this year.

Rose Breuss, Director of Marketing said, “The firm extended time off during the workday and encouraged our team members to donate blood.  On average the blood donations took only 45 minutes to an hour of our time, and with the blood mobile in our parking lot, it couldn’t have been anymore convenient.”

Stacy Sime, President and CEO of LifeServe Blood Center said, “We are continuously challenged to make certain our blood supply can meet the needs of the people and areas we serve.   We greatly appreciate all our community partners, and thank McGowen, Hurst, Clark & Smith for their dedication to our cause.”

Although the 65th Anniversary blood donation goal has been met, recognizing the demand for blood increases during the holidays, the blood mobile will make another visit to MHC&S in December.

McGowen, Hurst, Clark & Smith, P.C. has offices located in West Des Moines and Winterset, IA.  In addition to the traditional tax, audit and accounting services, MHC&S provides many valued-added services including business consulting, fraud detection and deterrence, estate planning, QuickBooks training, business succession planning, valuation services and more.
